Why Didn't Arsene Buy Karim Benzema On Ebay

Damnit Arsene!!! Why are you so slow? While everyone was looking to talk to the club, agent and the player about the move you should have just bid on him on ebay. Someone needs to get you up to speed with technology.

You know, it might not be too late. They say you can find great deals and a huge selection....

I Guess Football Players Don't Learn From Other People's Mistakes

We all make mistakes right? But as the saying goes the important thing is to learn from them and if you are really wise you let others make the mistakes and you learn from them. Doesn't seem to be the law in football though. I guess every player rather make their own share of mistakes and learn from them on their own. Not sure if they think this way because they've headed the ball one too many times or it's just an ego thing. Either way, the latest football player who is looking to make his own mistakes is our very own ex-ace-striker Thierry Henry.

Following in the footsteps of Mr. David Beckham, Henry too wants to "end his career" at MLS (American League). He would like to see our his contract here at Barca, which will last for another two years after which he prefers to move to East Coast and play for New York Red Bulls.

The inspiration possibly came from his latest visit to the BIG APPLE where he was a part of the charity game organized by basketball star Steve Nash. He was asked if he would ever consider moving out here to play football to which he responded by saying that it might be a possibility.

*Sigh* Henry Henry Henry...... I really can't add much to what Mr. Beckham has already presented with his career here at the MLS. Your call buddy.

Benzema Is Reality But Tevez Is A Dream?

About a week ago I wrote a post about whether Arsene should look into Tevez. I back then thought it was a possibility but only a few hours after writing the post I was told that I was a dreamer and something like that would never happen since Arsene doesn't have £30m to spend on the striker. Course I came back by saying that we should have the money once we sell off Ade. But "hardcore" Arsenal fans corrected me again by telling me to stop dreaming. So here's the thing....

Why is it that spending £30m on Tevez is a dream but spending £30m on Benzema is a possibility? I sincerely hope I hear back from readers and get some views on this evolving story.

Oh also, if you are going to say that Benzema's stats are better than Tevez's then i'd like to add that Benzema has been playing at French League where the level of soccer is not as high as the EPL. Also Benzema would need time to settle if and when he moves to EPL where as a Tevez has been playing at the highest level here at EPL and wouldn't really need that time to settle in.

Vieira's PSG Move Likely

Ex-Arsenal captain, midfield, ace is seriously considering his options to move to PSG this summer. Antoine Kombouare, Paris St Germain coach, is also keen to pick up on Milan's excess baggage.

The only hurdle at the moment is that PSG can't afford Patrick Vieira's wage demands. However the sides have spoken on the phone and chances of things happening seem extremely likely.

In my opinion Patrick should make and do with what he's offered and play out the final few years of his life in style rather than sitting on the bench. Let his nation at the very least see his true talent for a final few years than fading memories of who he once was. Passion for the game over love for the money.

Should Arsene Look Into Tevez?

Recently Tevez asked Manchester United to take their money & their lucrative contract and shove it. Well maybe he didn't exactly say that but that's what it comes off as when you turn down an offer that could make you one of the highest paid players at a top level club like Manchester United.

So for a top quality player looking to move and move quickly to a good club, should Arsene consider Tevez as an Arsenal Player. Those of you thinking exactly this, here's my two cents on it.

I was just reading up on the player and this guy has a lot of character. He refused Manu contract because "wasn't the most wanted person". That means that he believes in himself and wants to excel as a player who is not willing to sell himself short.

He refuses to get a cosmetic surgery for the burns on his neck and chest because he feels that's who he is. That comes off as a person who is true to himself and doesn't want to try to be someone he's not.

He doesn't want to move to Liverpool out of respect for Manchester United fans (no he didn't say anything about Arsenal.) This means that he respects those who respect him.

All three combined give you a humbled and loyal player which every manager in the world would kill to have. On top of this add Tevez's skills to the mix.

He has already represented Argentina in 50 appearances and had the privilege of scoring 8 goals for the home side. He's acknowledged as Argentina's top striker, and given that he's only 25 years old, he definitely has a alot of career to look forward to.

As for club level stats. He has made 213 appearances over his career. He has played for 4 clubs and scored 83 goals. Which is relatively less than what you would expect from a striker but when you look back on the player's history. He's really not been able to settle down anywhere. Every player needs a good club to settle down at before they can hit the peak of their career. I feel that once he does, he will score like Torres does.

The player is tagged between £30m and £35m. Something we should have once we sell of Adebayor (God that time cannot come fast enough for me, another story for another time).

Currently Chelsea & Man City are interested in the club. With a promise of regular first team position & right amount of money Arsene can definitely convince Carlos to move over.

I feel the player has a lot of future and he is definitely something Arsenal should consider if not more. I feel like with him and the current strikers we have (other than Ade) we should have a great strike force and can put up a great fight next season.

However, that's just my opinion. What do you think?

Thomas Vermaelen Signed & Sealed

It's finally happened. The much talked about news over the last few weeks has finally come to reality. Arsenal has signed the young Belgian defender for £10m (wikipedia). Bang for the buck? Or Not? I guess time will tell. However I know one thing for sure, that's Arsene knows how to pick the young blood.... Persie, Henry, Cesc, Theo and others.

But looking back on Vermaelen past experience, he definitely seems a little short on experience to be playing for a club at Arsenal's level. To date he's played for three clubs and Arsenal is the fourth:
  1. KFC Germinal Beerschot (Belgium) 1999 – 2001
  2. AFC Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands) Summer 2001 – June 2009
  3. RKC Waalwijk (Netherlands) On loan during 2004/05
He has made 153 appearances and scored 12 goals at club level. Judging from the clubs he's played at, he will definitely have to step up his game at Arsenal when he goes up against the likes of Liverpool, Manu and Chelsea.

His international experience is a little shy as well. He has made only 21 appearances for the national side without any goals (which I guess isn't that important for a defender).

So what do you think, £10m well spent?

Cesc Scores In Confederations Cup

Arsenal captain is off to a great start in the tournament as is Spain. After a eleven minute hat-trick by the Spanish wonder Torres, Fabregas hits the back of the net and gets Spain it's fourth goal.

Unfortunately for New Zealand that wasn't then end of it. David Villa made is five soon after and double figure goals seemed like a possibility. However New Zealand did manage to get their team together and hold the fort from here on.

Arsenal & Persie Ready For Talks

With Theo and Fabianski committing their futures to the club. Arsene will be really at peace if Persie was to follow in their footsteps before the holiday season. The moment of truth is not too far away as Persie will hold talks with chief executive Ivan Gatzidis this week.

The word has it that Persie is looking to seal a eighty thousand pounds per week contract and Arsenal is looking to tie the player in for atleast four years.

Persie off of late has been a little reluctant to sign a new contract since Arsenal don't have the funds to strengthen the squad. However with Adebayor and Clinchy on the way, things just might look better for the club.

Arsenal Secure Fabianski Contract

Arsenal have locked in the polish international on a long term contract earlier today. The 24 year old joined the club in 2007 when he transferred from Legia Warsaw and from the events of today, it doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to leave.

Course why would he want to, given that he's Arsenal's preferred keeper. Even though he's only made 18 appearances total for Arsenal past season but his nine clean sheets definitely stand out and make him a running contender for Arsenal's first team keeper.
